چکیده

Events fall short to simulate actions of multi-agent systems (MASs). Agents act in dynamic environments, and the characteristics of actions in dynamic environments differ significantly from the properties of events. In this paper, we propose a conceptual model for actions in dynamic environments, based on the concepts influence, activity and effect. The model is especially important for simulating industrial multi-agent systems as it explicitly supports three essential characteristics of actions in dynamic environments: (1) the environment changes while an agent is acting upon it, (2) agents do not control the actual outcome of their actions, and (3) agents do not control the time instant their actions complete. The model enables a developer to incorporate a suitable amount of dynamism with respect to the actions in the simulation in an explicit and systematic way. This allows simulating scenarios where actions do not yield their intended result. We illustrate the model using a scenario in an automated warehouse transportation system and describe the architecture of a prototype that supports the model.

Agents in Proactive Environments

Agents situated in proactive environments are acting autonomously while the environment is evolving alongside, whether or not the agents carry out any particular actions. A formal framework for simulating and reasoning about this generalized kind of dynamic systems is proposed. The capabilities of the agents are modeled by a set of conditional rules in a temporal-logical format. The environment...

Semi-Automated Dialogue Act Classification for Situated Social Agents in Games

As a step toward simulating dynamic dialogue between agents and humans in virtual environments, we describe learning a model of social behavior composed of interleaved utterances and physical actions. In our model, utterances are abstracted as {speech act, propositional content, referent} triples. After training a classifier on 100 gameplay logs from The Restaurant Game annotated with dialogue ...

Multisectoral Actions for Health: Challenges and Opportunities in Complex Policy Environments

Multisectoral actions for health, defined as actions undertaken by non-health sectors to protect the health of the population, are essential in the context of inter-linkages between three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental. These multisectoral actions can address the social and economic factors that influence the health of a population at the local, natio...

Chaotic Genetic Algorithm based on Explicit Memory with a new Strategy for Updating and Retrieval of Memory in Dynamic Environments

Many of the problems considered in optimization and learning assume that solutions exist in a dynamic. Hence, algorithms are required that dynamically adapt with the problem’s conditions and search new conditions. Mostly, utilization of information from the past allows to quickly adapting changes after. This is the idea underlining the use of memory in this field, what involves key design issue...
